Phillip Island Summer Carnival
Philip Island Summer Carnival is an event to look forward in December every year. It is a name synonymous with fun, frolic, entertainment and excitement. This family summer holiday tradition, which is going on for the last 50 years, has something to offer everyone. From old, young to a child, everyone gets fascinated by the carnival’s extravaganza.
A plethora of activities awaits you at Philip Island Summer Carnival. Be it food, rides, games, or gifts, you are going to love it all.
Each year the carnival is a little different and some of the rides and games below may be swapped with new ones, but in general you should look for:
No carnival is complete without food. Start your carnival experience with mouth watering fairy floss and toffee apples that are traditional to the carnival.
Race along with your entire family on the Dodgem car track or if you are a dare devil, go for the thrilling ride of Midnight Madness. This is not all. Check out Kamikaze and the Space Roller, the latest from Europe, if you are one of those adrenaline junkies.
Other favourite games amongst families include Mirror Maze, Walk on Water Inflatable Balls, Tilt a Wheel, Mini Four-wheeler Quad Bikes, Cha Cha and Giant Inflatable Worm Walk, to name a few.
Kids love the corner made especially for them that includes Lady Beatle Bug Rides, Disney Classic Teacups and Jumping Castles. There are various carnival games to try your luck, including Catch a Duck, Wild West Sheet and Laughing Clowns. Take back memories to cherish with prizes from brands like Dora the Explorer, Adventure Time and Cartoon Network.
Enjoy weekend attraction as FMX motor cross shows and Farmyard Animal, Reptiles and Snake shows at the carnival.
The event wraps up with a grand firework display on the Australian Day, 26 January.
Carnival Open Times
Philip Island Summer Carnival is open from Boxing Day, (26 December) and continues for a month, until 26 January.
The timings for the carnival are 6 pm to11 pm.
Reaching Philip Island Summer Carnival
In order to reach Philip Island for the Summer Carnival, you would need to start from Melbourne. Take M1 or the Monash Freeway and head towards South Gippsland Highway, exiting from Cranbourne Exit. Follow M420 till you reach Bass Highway. From here head towards B420, Philip Island Road and keep moving towards San Remo till you reach Phillip Island.
Available Public Transport:
One can opt for daily V-Line coaches that start from Melbourne and go till Corinella, Newhaven, Bass, Corinella and San Remo. Check out Public Transport Victoria for more information.
Interisland Passenger Ferries are connected to Phillip Island through V-Line train. You may start from Stony Point until Cowes, Phillip Island.
Cleeland Bus Lines offer private charters. You can also enjoy weekly pick up and drop services to Cowes on every Thursday. The same service to Frankston is available fortnightly on Mondays.
Phillip Island Bus Service offers private charters from Wonthaggi to Cowes. These are daily services and ample seats are available. Thus, there is just no need to make a booking in advance.
Phillip Island Helicopters and Airport services are also a great way to get to the Phillip Island Summer Carnival.
