Purple Hen Location
Located in Rhyll, the winery overlooks the Bay of Western Port and offers spellbinding views of Churchill Island, Denne Bight and Swann Inlet. The winery and vineyard are located on McFees Road in Rhyll.
Wines on Offer
Purple Hen Vineyard and Winery has both red and wine wines. The red wines that visitors can taste and buy include Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wines extend to Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Viognier and Chardonnay.
Visitors can purchase wines by the bottle or glass. It can be a unique experience to drive down to Purple Hen Vineyard and Winery and enjoy a relaxed and leisurely session of wine tasting.
Wine Tasting at Purple Hen
The fee for wine tasting is $5 per person, but this amount is refunded if visitors purchase a bottle. The wine tasting can be coupled with reasonably priced Blackboard Menu, which comprises of nibbles, such as olives and nuts, and platters of delicious cheeses and veggies. Their Cheese Platter for $22 is quite popular and comes with Tarago River Brie, Tarago Rive Shadows of Blue, Maffra Farm House Cheddar and an assortment of dried fruit, crackers and nuts.
This Phillip Island winery opens its Cellar Door from 11 am until 5.30 pm. From Boxing Day until Easter end and during school holidays in Victoria, the winery is open from all days of the week.
During other seasons, Purple Hen is closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Christmas Day.
